Hotel Riu Palace Pacifico

We stayed from April 15th to the 20th, and our worst experience by far was at the Steakhouse, where we felt racially profiled. We are a Hispanic family that has resided in the US for decades. We strongly believe in supporting hospitality staff and have a deep tipping culture, but we did not receive the same level of service as the American and Canadian guests. The manager, SALVADOR, was completely indifferent to the fact that we waited over two hours for our meals. Because of this massive food delay, we completely missed the resort's White Party. Despite asking SALVADOR multiple times about our order, he brushed us off with a repetitive "it's coming." As RIU Platinum members, this incredibly frustrating and dismissive treatment was deeply disappointing.

We stayed at RIU Palace Pacifico for 6 nights in July. Check in was quick, our room was not ready since we arrived earlier than check in time but by the time we had lunch it was ready. Room- The rooms are nice and spacious. Water is very hot, maid service was excellent. Our fridge was well stocked with water. The fan above the bed was nice and the ac worked well. The bed was a little bit too soft for us but comfy. Staff- We have traveled to many RIU’s, Secrts md I Iberostars and found this resort to have so,w of the friendliest staff. Bar service around the pool was great as was service in all the restaurants and bars / lobby area. Food- We had breakfast in the buffet everyday and it was great. Wide selection. We had lunch in the buffet 4 days and twice at the American Country bar. Both were great. We ate at all the restaurants except the Krystal and all the food was great. The buffet for dinner was good too. Drink- We are not big drinkers but I loved the champagne and Rose wine. The mango margaritas and pina coladas were good too. Pool- Large deck area and plenty of chairs. We never had trouble finding a spot or getting towels. WiFi worked very well. The TV was hard to get to work but we figured it out. The whole resort was very clean and the grounds keepers keep it immaculate. Entertainment- We had a lot of fun at the silent disco. The Michael Jackson show and the circus show were entertaining. We went to the white party at the RIU down the road and it was fun but hot and lots of kids there. The free shuttle to and from was air conditioned and quick. Gym- The gym was nice. We used it one day but ran outside in the hotel zone twice. The path along this area is around 2 miles long so down na back made it 4 miles. Beach- There is a large beach area with lots of chairs but the only shade was the palm trees. Ocean was rough and water darker than we like. The vendors do not harass you. You just say no thank you and they move on. Sand was HOT. Dislikes- The pool water though was very warm. It was so warm that it was not refreshing at all. The temperature outside was in 90’s with feels like of 100-105 Fahrenheit most days. We did not like that you had to pay to play pool at the country bar so we didn’t play. The gift shop was pricey. One other thing, they painted something in our room during the day on our last day and it gave the room a paint smell for a while.
