The ClubHotel Riu Oliva Beach Resort, the Jaubert family’s home away from home
27 October, 2017There are few stories like the Jaubert family’s. A multi-generational group that since 2009 has been enjoying its holidays at the same destination, Fuerteventura, and staying at the same hotel: the ClubHotel Riu Oliva Beach Resort. More than 80 years separate the ages of the youngest and the oldest member of a family that has found in the dunes of Corralejo the perfect place to spend its holidays together.
From their first stay at the ClubHotel Riu Oliva Beach Resort, the Jauberts were brought together by part of one of the member’s family by marriage, the Poggios. This year twenty-seven of them travelled together to Fuerteventura. Among the Jaubert family, we find one who is possibly the youngest guest ever to stay at the hotel. Two years ago, the youngest grandchild in the family, an infant less than one month old, was part of the group.
The fact that there are so many of them means that they appreciate the amenities provided by the hotel with the different services. According to Pedro Jaubert, the family’s spokesperson, “the restaurants make it easy for us to eat together; the bars give us a chance to sit around the table as a family after meals and chat”; and the reception staff has always taken care of all our requests, which over the years have been varied and diverse due to the heterogeneous nature of the group”.
For them, another thing that has made them repeat customers for stays ranging from a week to ten days, is its location (it’s outside the urban centre of one town but close to another, it’s surrounded by the magnificent dunes of Corralejo, it has heavenly beaches…) and its staff. “They have a considerable number of long-time employees, all of them notable for their pleasantness, friendliness and professionalism”, says Pedro Jaubert.
After so many years of hosting us, they’ve been part of memorable moments. The youngest members of the family have learned to swim in the hotel pools. “For all of them, we’ve filmed that moment when they are let go and have to stay afloat without a flotation device”, Pedro tells us. And in fact, one member of the family got married this summer, and the couple was welcomed at the hotel by the family, who improvised a wedding march to the chapel where everyone toasted with cava provided by the hotel. The groom in question, as it happens, spent his honeymoon in New York… and he stayed at the Riu Plaza New York Times Square!
We love it when our guests want to come back again and again. And to see a group this big and diverse do it fills us with pride. We hope to welcome them for many years to come. Many thanks, Jauberts, for your confidence in us.

We like to call our Riu holidays our home away from home. We have been blessed to be able to visit a Riu for several years now. Our first visit to a Riu was the Riu Caribe in Cancun in 2003. We fell in love right away and went back to the Riu Caribe three years in a row!! For two years we tried a couple other resort chains but went back to the Riu and have stayed loyal to the Riu brand ever since! We will be leaving in February for the Riu Palace Punta Cana and can’t wait to be welcomed back “home” by the wonderful staff that we are sure will be there!

We have stayed at the Riu Vallarta for the last 3 years Joe, you will not be disappointed as the staff are great.Look for Estrella in the main dining room, she’s fast but brilliant at her job, lunch time look for Jorge and Jaun at the Beach restaurant along with Laura (big blue eyes long black hair),they all make you welcome and make your stay enjoyable.
The hotel in general is worth every penny or cent (depends where you are from) that you intend to spend . Have a great time as we are due there in February.Bring it on .
My wife and I were there September 2017 and loved it, staff were brilliant food was superb and even more so in the specialist restaurants.we stayed in one of the annexes so therefore no high balconies. Was so good we are heading back again September 2018. Fully recommend.
