It’s time to wiggle your hips to the rhythm of the Riu Parties!
20 November, 2023Little by little we are saying goodbye to this balmy autumn and embracing winter. Although in Spain we enjoy a privileged location, and there are several places where the mercury in the thermometer still hasn’t dropped, it’s better not to be overconfident. To avoid the chill, we bring you our secret formula: wiggle your hips! Unlike the saying, music doesn’t always soothe the savage beast, and it certainly doesn’t at our Riu Party.
RIU Hotels & Resorts brings you the best plan for this winter: come dance with us! But the million dollar question is, where in Spain can we find these acclaimed parties?
Where did the Riu Party concept come from?
To know where we are going, we must first know where we came from. This new concept was the brain child of Luis Riu, our CEO, thanks to his love of music and his desire to share his hobby, always focusing on the guests. The idea was for everyone to actively enjoy the entertainment shows, not only as mere spectators, but to get first-hand experience of the choreography, dancing, light shows and colour schemes that envelop these events with magic and joy, joining the entertainment offer of our hotels.
These colourful celebrations were launched in 2018 in Los Cabos, Mexico, and today can be enjoyed in seven countries and more than forty establishments, with Spain being one of the places where these parties premiered in 2023. Do you want to know which destinations they take place in?
Where is Riu Party in Spain?
The first Riu Parties arrived in Tenerife, at the Riu Buenavista, although guests at the Riu Palace Tenerife and Riu Arecas can also attend them. Andalusia became the next fortunate Autonomous Community to host these festivities, with the Riu Chiclana being chosen as the venue, which recently had a very special guest: Juan Magán!
But the surprises don’t end here. Taking advantage of the renovation of the Riu Gran Canaria, in the month of August this year, the best fiesta also touched down on the largest island in the Canary archipelago. Guests of the other hotels of the chain on the island can also come and enjoy these celebrations: Riu Palace Maspalomas, Riu Palace Meloneras, Riu Palace Oasis, Riu Palace Palmeras, Riu Papayas and Riu Vistamar. Never stop partying!
Organising your diary is easy. These celebrations are suitable for the whole family and that’s why all our parties in Spain are held on Fridays between 7 pm and 11 pm. That way you’ll be fresh as a daisy on Saturday, meaning you’ll be able to make the most of the rest of the weekend without missing out on the dancing your body craves.
What are the themes?
Each Friday the theme alternates, so it is very important that you check with the hotel which type of party you will be attending in order to include the appropriate outfit in your luggage.
The two possibilities are the White Party and the Neon Party. The White Parties feature a completely albino decor, bursting with balloons and confetti, that delivers a breathtaking WOW moment while you enjoy the best music from the 70s, 80s and 90s. On the other hand, the Neon Parties are flooded with fluorescent colours and light shows set to disco beats.
If while you are reading this you have started to feel your legs trembling, you feel like moving, jumping and dancing, there is no need to panic. These are common symptoms of Riu Party syndrome, which seems to be spreading through your veins. Now that you have the diagnosis, we give you the solution: come with us! We are looking forward to seeing you in Cádiz and the Canary Islands.
