Luis Riu: Merry Christmas and thank you for going on this adventure with me!
20 December, 2019I would like to make the most of this final post of the year to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and to thank you for having joined me, post by post, from the first article we published back in January up until now. We have published exactly 15 articles full of plans, experiences, work and enthusiasm. When this initiative first began I wasn’t sure what this journey would look like, but today I can definitely say that I am very happy to have started it and I am excited to be continuing with these posts in 2020.
2019, a year of challenges and dreams fulfilled for the RIU family
This year has brought some major challenges with it, which is why I want to take this opportunity to thank all the employees that are part of RIU hotels for their hard work, dedication and enthusiasm. Without a great team, we could not have undertaken such major projects. It is no exaggeration to say that my sister Carmen and I can boast a truly talent-filled team. From the Management Board, who join us in extending their Christmas greetings, to the newest member of the company, please accept my most heartfelt thanks.
What is Christmas like at RIU Hotels & Resorts?
The holiday season is always a special time at RIU Hotels. Many of our guests come back to their favourite hotel every year to spend the holidays and we work hard to offer them fantastic food and special events, but we also want them to feel cared for by the whole team.
RIU Hotels during Christmas
The hotels are decked out in all their finery and there have been some really fantastic Christmas decorations. The celebrations are not just for our guests, however. All our hotel staff make up one big family and our hotels always look for an opportunity to raise a toast and to share good times together. Quite a few of our hotels also organize a day where staff can bring their children to work. The Three Kings themselves even make it to some of our hotel destinations.
Christmas celebrations at the RIU offices
We are perhaps a little more understated with our decorations at the RIU offices. We do have plenty of Christmas spirit though and there is a great sense of solidarity and friendship among colleagues. Our different departments usually organize a Christmas lunch or dinner, and we all get together for an end of year drink where we also thank everyone for all their hard work and share our plans for the upcoming year.
We will be rounding off the year with a few days of resting, relaxation and spending these special holidays with our families to come back in January with renewed strength to face 2020, which will certainly bring us new and exciting challenges.
