RIU’s hotels in Mauritius are reopening and will be the most energy efficient in the chain

1 February, 2024

The reopening of our hotels in Mauritius is getting closer! You already know that at RIU Hotels & Resorts we do everything in a big way. That is why, at the end of 2022, RIU’s hotels in this dream destination were completely demolished to be rebuilt from scratch. In May of this year we will finally be able to see the result we have been waiting for for so long.

The Riu Palace Mauritius, a 4-star superior hotel for Adults Only, and the 4-star Riu Turquoise are reopening with some wonderful new features. In this post we exclusively preview some of these and show you what they look like. Although these images are not definitive, they do give us a good idea of what the result will be. Stay with us!

Self-sufficient hotels in Mauritius

Both hotels have always been proud of their location and surroundings, as they are situated on the heavenly beaches of the Le Morne peninsula, at the foot of Mount Morne Brabant. In addition to being one of the most beautiful mountains on the island, it has also been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008. The direct consequence of being located in this paradise is a commitment to the ecosystem that we at RIU will always maintain and respect. That is why the two hotels will be a first: they will be the most energy-efficient hotels in the RIU chain thanks to the 2,418 solar panels distributed on their roofs.

They will be practically self-sufficient hotels since, at certain times, the panels will be capable of supplying 100% of the energy needed by the hotels and the panels will cover a significant percentage of the hotels’ demand at other times of the day.

New Elite Club space

The other milestone that will characterise this destination after its eagerly awaited opening is that guests at the Riu Palace Mauritius hotel will be able to choose to add even more luxury to their stay thanks to the Elite Club service. This premium product has made its way to RIU’s Mauritius paradise with 55 rooms, 26 of which have a private pool.

In addition to these exclusive rooms attached to the main buildings, a separate building has been set up where, in addition to the rest of the rooms, there will be a swimming pool just for Elite Club guests. And best of all? There will be Balinese beds to relax on.

Naturally, the exclusive Elite Club Bar will be at their disposal, where they will be able to enjoy premium drinks.

The Indian restaurant will continue to be the highlight of RIU in Mauritius.

Don’t worry! You probably read demolition and thought that nothing will ever be the same again! Fear not! Although it now has a fresh new look, the Riu Turquoise hotel has retained its famous Indian à la carte restaurant called Bangalore, which has always been a great success with its customers.

And that is not all! Thanks to RIU’s 24h All Inclusive service, you will be able to enjoy an extensive culinary offer at both hotels:

Riu Turquoise

– Main buffet restaurant Gaulette
– À la carte steakhouse
– Pepe’s Food grill

Riu Palace Mauritius

In addition to being able to enjoy the gastronomy at the Riu Turquoise, if you are a guest at the Riu Palace you will be able to sample:

– The main restaurant Riviere
– The fusion restaurant, Krystal
– The Asian restaurant, Kaori

In addition, both hotels will share common areas including the theatre, the sports bar, the spa and the water sports area. We don’t want to end this post without giving you a little preview, as promised, of what some of the common areas and rooms of these two hotels will be like:
