RIU Palace Punta Cana gave us a lovely suite with a private balcony whirlpool tub last week! We were quite upset to learn after we locked our room door and headed to the private balcony tub which only our room could access, that someone entered our room with a master key, dead bolted the patio door, locking us out of our own room, stole $1500 in cash (every penny we had in the safe and other places). We could not re-enter our room without yelling for help. The RIU manager did NOT call the local police, offered us $200 in cash to tip staff and for return airport transport, and promised follow-up. There has been ZERO follow-up. We are VERY disappointed with the lack of security when in my own room and the poor customer service, let alone the cash that was stolen!!!
